Japanese soccer experts fancy team’s chances

May 22nd, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 2 Comments »

Three soccer experts, soccer commentator Yasutaro Matsuki, J-1 team Omiya Ardija Total Advisor Eijun Kiyokumo and soccer fan cum performer Katsuhiko Hibino who follow Japanese football thorougly give their opinions on how they feel Japan will do in the World Cup.

They all agree that Japan has what it takes to qualify from the group stage .

I must agree with them that if Brazil win their first two games, then they might rest some players against the Japanese. But what happens if Brazil don’t win their first two games?

I conclude that Zico will concentrate on his team doing extremely well in their three group games and not expect his countrymen do him any favours.

I say it every year – Japan is no pushover. I believe they will outshine S. Korea this year by far, and to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Brazil a hard time.

Totally agree with you Vin, Japan should have the hunger to do better than their archive rivals Korea who in my own opinion were extremely “lucky” to have gone so far thanks to some really dodgey calls or lack there of…the Italian community in Sydney remind us every single time we talk about the world cup hahaha
