Japanese coach Zico is the ninth best coach of the world

January 27th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 1 Comment »

The Japanese coach Zico has been voted as the ninth best national coach of the world, according to the annual election of the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS). Actually, it is not the first time that he has appeared on the list elaborated by the organization based in Germany. In 2004, the victorious Japanese campaign gave him the seventh place.

Check the top nine and the scoring: -

1. Carlos Alberto Gomes Parreira (Brazil) – 167
2. Marcel van Basten (Netherlands) – 134
3. José Néstor Pekerman (Argentina) – 75
4. Marcello Lippi (Italy) – 50
5. Karel Brückner (Czech Republic) – 46
6. Ricardo Antonio La Volpe (Mexico) – 41
7. Luiz Felipe Scolari (Portugal) – 35
8. Bruce Arena (USA) – 30
9. Arthur Antunes Coimbra “Zico” (Japan) – 29

Just to note that the top 9 coaches are all appearing in the World Cup this year so maybe that was a criteria for selection. Would anyone bet on any of these coaches lifting the World Cup in Germany?

Marcel van Basten? it is Marco van Basten.
I think it is appropriate to spell the name of the second best coach of the world (In you opinion) right.
