Do teams that qualify early field weakened teams?
I have always wondered what happens when a team has qualified from the group stages of the World Cup. Most teams do field weakened teams in order to rest favourable players for the second round of the competition.
And that brings me to the fact that the last match in Group F of the 2006 World Cup will be between Japan and Brazil and there is a possibility that by the time the Brazilians come to play the Japanese they would have already qualified.
So who knows if the Brazilians may decide to field a slightly weakened team when they come up against the Japanese.
Like previous World Cups, it won’t be the first time favours like that have happened even though the likehood of this scenario actually happening might just be wishful thinking.
