March 29th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | No Comments »

Coach Zico has come out to give his backing to out-of-favour captain Tsuneyasu Miyamoto. The Japan captain has not figured at J-League club Gamba Osaka but Zico feels he is still the man to lead the Japanese team.
Gamba Osaka coach has not started Miyamoto in all of the club’s four games this season because he club coach doesn’t want to alter a four man backline. Good excuse!!!
However, Zico said of his captain, “He (Miyamoto) is the Japan captain. He is a talented player and has great leadership qualities and I have high hopes of him continuing to be that player.”
Miyamoto has been selected in the squad to play Ecuador in Oita tomorrow.
