Hidetoshi Nakata the golden boy of Japan and Asian soccer has announced his retirement from the beautiful game at the age of 29.
Nakata who had a below par World Cup will be remembered for putting Japanese soccer on the World map.
He has been a great ambassador for the sport and I would like [...]

Japan World cup dream is over

June 23rd, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 20 Comments »

Japan’s World cup adventure is finally over. They were beaten 4-1 by Brazil earlier tonight which leaves them bottom of Group F table.
Japan played very well in the first half of today’s game and took a early lead with a fantastic goal but Brazil always looked dangerous all night and when they equalised [...]

Japan need to beat Brazil and pray for miracles

June 22nd, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 6 Comments »

Japan have it all to do tonight when the face Brazil in their Group F match. Even if they win against Brazil, they will need the other result between Croatia and Australia to go their way to stand any chance of making it to the next round. Why you may ask?
The Aussies have three [...]

Coach Zico blames World Cup organisers for team’s woes

June 20th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 14 Comments »

Coach Zico is blaming the World Cup organisers for the team’s underperformance in the World Cup. He believes the organisers made his team play twice in the scorching sun and that affected performance. The story makes me laugh because I haven’t seen Australia or Croatia complaining about the weather.
In my opinion, [...]

Japan 0 - 0 Croatia

June 18th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 14 Comments »

What can I say about this match!
Another missed opportunity by Japan to get three points on the board.
The highlights of the match were goalkeeper Kawaguchi saving a penalty in the 22nd minute and Atsushi Yanagisawa missing from about 3 yards in front of goal. Definitely the miss of the tournament in my opinion.
The [...]

Zico to ‘revert’ back to 4-4-2 for game against Croatia

June 16th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 43 Comments »

Japan face Croatia on Sunday in a make or break match in Nuremberg. Coach Zico is ready to ditch the 3-5-2 formation that proved disastrous against the Aussies and revert to a 4-4-2 formation.
As this is a must win game for the Blue Samurai, he will hope to add more offensive power by allowing the [...]

Japan 1 - 3 Australia

June 12th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 46 Comments »

The Socceroos came from behind to stun the Blue Samurai with three goals in the last 10 minutes.
Tim Cahill a super sub who I blogged about earlier was the hero of the day with two goals in the space of five minutes. You can read up on how the drama unfolded right here.
Japan have it [...]

Japan 1- 0 Australia (Half-Time)

June 12th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 7 Comments »

I have been following this game on my PC at work courtesy Worldcupblog’s liveblog .
The game seems fairly entertaining although I heard Japan scored a bizzare goal. I will look out for that when I see the highlights later.
The Socceroos have had most of the possession but the Blue Samurai have the [...]

Today’s Opposition - The Socceroos

June 12th, 2006 | By: ShiLou | 4 Comments »

With only a few hours to go before Japan’s game against Australia, I have been analysing the Socceroos team to see the dangermen who could cause the Japan team a lot of problems.
