Honda wants a tough boss
Keisuke Honda seems to be trying to use his elevated position in the Japan squad to have his say on the potential new national team coach, and he definitely doesn’t want a “yes man”.

Rumour, Counter Rumour, Hushed Whispers and other speculation
Not the latest spy drama, but the ongoing speculation about the club future of Keisuke Honda. I’ve been resisting putting too much stock by the numerous rumours I see each day – resisting as best I can anyway…until now…obviously. (more…)

Japan’s Bid is “Very Balanced” says FIFA
FIFA’s inspection team have left Japan impressed with what they’ve seen, although hardly gushing with praise describing the bid as a nice balance between old and new, referring to environmental awareness and the high-tech approach including 3-D match broadcasts. (more…)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Must Look Like He Needs a Hug
If we were to list the most huggable players in world football, I doubt Zlatan Ibrahimovic would figure highly. The big talented Swede seems much more aloof than he approachable. Also, have you ever tried hugging someone who's 6'5"? A fan at last night's Valarenga vs Barcelona pre-season friendly was ...
2050: Still The Year Of Ozil
Whether or not Nike was planning to continue their Özil series past the World Cup, they may not have a choice now. Arguably one of the hottest commodities to burst onto the global scene in South Africa, his stock is enormously high and as such, there's money to be made. There ...
Daily Dose: July 29th, 2010.
The footage from that Chinese fan kung-fu kick has arrived. Sort of the Holy Trinity of football fouls: horrible dive, horrible tackle, excellent fan interference. A look back at the German u19 team of 2007 (featuring that Ozil cat). (uefa) Marlon King now a free...agent. (Guardian) Contest for disturbing headline photo over. (Fisted ...
Mixed Start for MLS Teams in CONCACAF Champions League
Forget the MLS All-Star game vs Man Utd. If you really want to judge MLS teams against international opposition, the best place to do so is the CONCACAF Champions League. If you have no idea what the acronymtastic competition is, imagine the UEFA Champions League, but instead of Barcelona and ...
Man City and The Second Coming, Part II
Following the borderline blasphemous news this morning that Man City signed Jesus Christ himself, The Offside can exclusively reveal that He's already been there. At least on television. The above clip is from the 2003 ITV mini-series The Second Coming, starring Christopher Ecclestone as Jesus Christ. Here's the setting: The Messiah ...
Man City Snap Up A Messiah
No, not Messi. They could hardly be bothered with such mere mortals when in fact they've gone one better and snapped up the actual Messiah, one Jesus H. Christ. At least this is what TalkSport tells us. But they also tell us it's a mere precursor to their inevitable capture of ...
10 Things We Learned from the 2010 MLS All-Star Game
The MLS All-Stars lost 5-2 to Manchester United in Houston last night. The All-Star game isn't a very accurate measuring tool. So don't worry MLS fans, this doesn't mean your league is rubbish. But also Man Utd fans shouldn't get too carried away, as the margin of victory reflected the ...
